Compend Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 12, 2026
Overview
Compend ("we", "our", "us") is a conference companion app that helps attendees capture sessions, scan business cards, and generate follow-up reports. We are committed to being specific and accurate about how your data is handled.
What Compend Collects
- Account information: your email address (and your phone number, if you sign in with SMS when that option is available).
- Recordings and transcripts: audio you record is streamed to our speech-to-text provider for live captions, and a full-session audio file is temporarily uploaded to private storage for speaker labeling. Transcripts, AI session reports, and notes are stored with your account.
- Photos: slides and business cards you capture with the camera are stored privately with your account and analyzed to build your session report. Compend does not browse your photo library.
- People you add: contact details captured from business cards or session connections (names, companies, emails, phone numbers). Compend does not access your phone's address book.
- Agenda imports: web addresses you ask Compend to import an agenda from.
- Usage analytics: first-party, in-app events (like "session started") tied to your account ID. No advertising or third-party analytics networks.
- Crash and performance diagnostics: error reports linked to your account ID so we can fix problems; personal content is scrubbed before sending.
Who Processes Your Data
The following service providers process data on our instructions:
- Supabase — hosting, sign-in, database, and file storage.
- Deepgram — speech-to-text and speaker labeling. Live audio is processed in flight; the uploaded speaker-labeling file is deleted after successful processing, with a 7-day server-side safety-net cleanup.
- Anthropic (Claude) — transcripts and captured photos are analyzed to generate your session reports.
- Sentry — crash reporting and app performance.
- Twilio — delivers SMS verification codes (only when phone sign-in is available).
- Firecrawl — fetches public agenda pages you ask Compend to import.
- CRM export (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce) — only when you connect your own CRM and choose to export; your CRM credentials stay on your device and never touch Compend's servers.
Text Messages (SMS)
If phone sign-in is available and you choose it, Compend sends one-time verification codes by SMS. These are transactional messages, not marketing. Your mobile phone number and SMS opt-in data (consent records, opt-out status) are not shared, sold, rented, or otherwise transferred to any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes; mobile information is shared only with our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) to the extent necessary to send the code you requested. Reply STOP to any Compend message to opt out, or HELP for help. For full program details, see our SMS Terms & Opt-In page.
What Compend Does Not Do
No ads, no selling of data, no cross-app tracking, no location collection, no biometric data.
Retention
Your data is kept while your account is active. Speaker-labeling audio is deleted after processing (7-day maximum). Transcripts, reports, and photos are kept until you delete them or your account.
Deleting Your Data
Open Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app to permanently delete your account and all synced data, immediately. You can also email support@compendapp.com.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Stored data lives in private, access-controlled storage. Sensitive keys are kept in the device Keychain.
Recording Responsibility
You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to recording conversations where you are. See the Terms of Service.
