Operated by Compend Software LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company.
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Compend mobile application, operated by Compend Software LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company ("Compend Software LLC", "Compend", "the app", "we", "our", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
These Terms do not include consent to receive SMS messages. Compend offers two equivalent sign-in methods: a one-time code by email, and a one-time code by SMS. SMS is optional — you can use the entire app without ever receiving an SMS by choosing email sign-in. If you choose SMS sign-in, your consent to receive SMS is collected separately at the time of opt-in, inside the app, by tapping the "Send Code" button on the Sign-In screen after you have entered your phone number. The full SMS program terms are documented at our separate SMS Terms & Opt-In page, which governs SMS messages independently of these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Compend. By using the app you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
Compend uses a phone-number or email one-time passcode (OTP) for sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the phone number or email address associated with your account. You agree to notify us at support@compendapp.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
You agree not to: (a) record audio in jurisdictions or contexts where doing so is prohibited; (b) use the app to harass, stalk, or invade the privacy of others; (c) attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or bypass security controls in the app; (d) resell or sublicense access to the service.
Compend, the Compend logo, and all associated software, designs, and content are the property of Compend Software LLC or its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use Compend trademarks or copyrighted material except to use the app as intended.
You retain ownership of audio, photos, transcripts, and contact information you create or capture in the app ("User Content"). You grant Compend a limited license to process your User Content solely to provide the app's features (for example, transcribing audio, extracting contact fields, and generating session reports).
The app integrates with third-party services (including Supabase, Deepgram, Twilio, Anthropic, and Sentry) as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those services through Compend is also subject to their respective terms.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that transcriptions or AI-generated content will be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Compend and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the app, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or by contacting support@compendapp.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via email.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of South Carolina.
